SGX-listed Asia Pacific Breweries has made fresh management appointments at its brewing assets in China.
As of Nov 16, APB’s Shanghai Asia Pacific Brewery Co. Ltd has been given a new general manager.
Mr Samson Wong — who has more than 11 years’ experience in the brewing industry holding various positions in Hong Kong and Macau — will be responsible for the overall management of the Shanghai brewery’s strategic and operational matters such as sales and commercial activities of the company’s beer brands as well as business development in East China.
Mr Wong holds a Bachelor of Commerce dgree from Dalhousie University in Canada and a Master of Business Administration from Temple University, USA.
From Dec 1, Mr Malcolm Tan, who joined APB in1990 will lead and oversee APB’s entire operations and businesses as well as investment activities in China, as the brewing giant’s regional director of China.
Prior to his new appointment, Mr Tan was tasked with establishing APB’s business in Hainan and South China.
During his stints as Marketing Director of Shanghai Asia Pacific Brewery Co. Ltd, General Manager of Hainan Asia Pacific Brewery Company Ltd, and then General Manager, South China Cluster, Heineken-APB (China) Management Services Co Ltd which he took on in 2006, Mr Tan successfully led the Group’s business and grew APB’s beer brands such as Tiger and Anchor in Hainan as well as the affluent cities of the South China market.
